Girls Who Code – Darfur
A specialized tech incubator empowering young girls in Darfur through coding and software development skills.

About this project
Girls Who Code – Darfur is a transformative incubator dedicated to empowering young girls in Darfur, Sudan, by offering comprehensive training in coding, software development, and digital literacy. Established to serve as both an educational program and a safe space, it encourages participants to freely explore their interests and potential. The initiative fosters creativity, problem-solving abilities, and confidence in their capacity to excel in technology.
Between 2019 and 2023, over 200 girls from El Fasher, Nyala, Abu Shoak, and Zamzam IDP camps have participated in the program, overcoming significant barriers to education and resources. By bridging the gender gap in tech, Girls Who Code – Darfur aims to inspire a new generation of female innovators and community leaders who will shape the future of Sudan’s digital landscape. Beyond technical skills, the program instills self-esteem, collaboration, and leadership—ensuring these young women are well-equipped to transform their lives and communities.
