About this project

Fostering Democratic Discourse is a six-month initiative aimed at countering disinformation, hate speech, and harmful online narratives that threaten Sudan’s democratic transition. Designed with PACT, this project supports civil society organizations—particularly those led by women and youth—by equipping them with digital literacy, media production skills, and community engagement strategies. Participants learn to identify and counter false content, deploy fact-checking tools, and create inclusive spaces for dialogue.

A central component involves producing accessible educational content for radio, social media, and local gatherings, ensuring vulnerable and remote groups can benefit from reliable information. In parallel, we provide mentorship on effective advocacy, highlighting peacebuilding and tolerance as cornerstones of Sudan’s social fabric. With a $73,895 budget, the program helps establish informed, collaborative civic networks that transcend cultural and linguistic barriers, fostering safer, more cohesive communities willing to protect democratic values.
