Encouraging Democratic Dialogue
A regional initiative operating in Kenya, Egypt, and Uganda to empower Sudanese civil society in countering disinformation.

About this project
Encouraging Democratic Dialogue is a nine-month project extending across Kenya, Egypt, and Uganda, with a $93,552 budget. Through continued partnership with PACT, it aims to reduce political polarization and cultivate constructive public conversations about governance in Sudan. This cross-border initiative trains civil society members in media production, fact-checking, and conflict-sensitive communication, enabling them to create collaborative content that addresses key social and political challenges.
In practice, participants gather data on community-specific issues—be it electoral transparency, minority rights, or resource distribution—and translate these insights into accessible, visually compelling media. Hackathons, focus groups, and workshops facilitate peer exchange and highlight best practices for dialogue-based approaches. By tapping into regional networks, Encouraging Democratic Dialogue amplifies Sudanese voices and encourages a broader ecosystem of reform-minded advocates. The end goal is to bolster grassroots capacities to engage in policy-shaping, resist divisive rhetoric, and chart a more harmonious future for Sudan within its regional context.
